Dr.Sc. Dejan Božić is a full professor in the field of cello art, born in 1971 in Belgrade. He graduated from the FMU in Belgrade as a student of a generation (1993), and a master's degree from the State Music College in Trossingen, Germany (1998), obtaining a degree in concert soloist. Doctorate at FMU in Belgrade (2016). He trained with renowned artists such as Ksenija Janković, Svetislav Apolin, Michael Flaxman, Gerhard Hamann, Mario de Secondi, Rocco Filippini, Aleksandar Fedocinko.
He was the winner of the first prizes at the Music School Sights, republican and federal competitions. Representative of Yugoslavia at the 5th Eurovision Song Contest for Young Artists in Vienna (1990).
Performed as a soloist with Belgrade, Vojvodina, Niš, Sarajevo and Macedonian Philharmonic, RTS Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of RTV Austria (ORF), Symphony Orchestra “Stanislav Binički”, Orchestra of the Academy of Music in Belgrade, Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, as well as with many chamber orchestras rhymes. He gave recitals throughout the former Yugoslavia, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Greece, Italy and Japan.
Since 1994 he has been teaching cello at the FMU in Belgrade. He was hired part-time as a cello professor at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad and the Academy of Arts in Niš. He taught master classes at the music schools “Josip Slavenski”, “Isidor Bajić”, “Petar Krančević” and at the Music Conservatory in Thessaloniki.
President of the jury at the International String Festival in Mitrovica, the International String Competition in Nis and the International Competition “Petar Konjović” in Belgrade.
He is also active as a chamber and orchestral musician. Since 2012 he has been the solo cellist of the Chamber and Symphony Orchestra “No Borders”, since 2007 of the Chamber Orchestra “Žebeljan”, and since 2005 he has been the guest cellist of the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra.
He was a solo cellist of Belgrade Philharmonic, Vojvodina Philharmonic, L'Orchestre des Jeunes de la Mediterranee, Belgrade Soloists Chamber Orchestra, member of the Dušan Skovran Chamber Orchestra, Arger Trio, Haimos Quartet, String Quartet and Octet. Belgrade Philharmonic, as well as many other chamber ensembles playing a diverse repertoire from baroque to contemporary music.
Recorded for RTS, as well as four CD releases for Deutsche Grammophon - Universal Austria, Oboe Classics London, Jugokoncert Belgrade and Chopin Japan.
